Eastern Woods Research was
founded by Jay DeJesus, Kenn Rymdeko and Jason
McLean
in Eastern Pennsylvania. Starting in 1991,
they built a few frames in a local barn but
soon farmed production out to Bill Grove at Grove
Innovations. The EWR bikes were built for the
tight technical PA trails and had a nod to Jay's
roots in trials riding. The Original Woods
Bike was the more technical oriented model while the
E -Motion was more cross country oriented. This
E-Motion still features the dropped top tube design
and 12.5" high bottom bracket.
Approximately 75 E-Motion bikes were built.
This particular bike was the last Grove-built EWR
and was a special order for a small woman racer and
was built but never delivered. Rody, of Groovy
Cycle Works, got the bike from Bill Grove and let
his kids ride it and, when they outgrew the bike,
donated it to the MOMBAT.
