Sun Eagle Bicycle Works started
out making off-road trailers in 1988 followed by the
Talon bicycles. There were about 15 Talon bicycles
including the mountain bikes, a couple of road bikes
and the world 24hr record bike of Michael Secrest.
This particular bike was #4 and was originally sold
to the BIKE SHACK which is the serial number as
well. Talon recommended the Bontrager
composite fork and Bullseye cranks which are on this
bike. The drive train is Shimano Deore XT with
American Classic hubs.
More info from the original owner of this bike:
I saw that my old talon Slayer made it to your
museum! Awesome. I have a few more details on the
bike you might be interested in. I broke the frame
in 92. it was sent back to Alan, he repainted it the
current color and made the repair. The original
paint was AMAZING! it was a white with orange, blue
and yellow fade. The dent in the down tube was from
a nice rock on a 35 mile epic ride in Trail canyon
near Tujunga, CA. I raced the bike many times and
loved it.
Thanks for taking care of the bike. I sold my 64
Chevy pickup in 89 to pay for it after seeing it at
Bike shack. I had it built with cooks cranks,
Bullseye hubs on cut down ma-40's, Mavic headset,
IRD composite straight leg no taper fork, Shimano
Deore XT all around.
