    1986 Trek 850

This bike uses Reynolds 531 tubing and a mostly Suntour XC component group.  The components on this particular bike are mostly original with some period correct "upgrades".  The pedals were changed from the plastic MKS Grafights to the the Shimano alloy pedals and the bars upgraded to a Nitto bar (with the same shape).  The crank is from Specialized.  Could you imagine Trek using Specialized branded parts today?  Trek continued to use the solid rear axle since there were concerns about the quick release axles withstanding the abuse of off-road riding.
