1984 Hanebrink  

Dan Hanebrink and Brian Skinner worked on a series of rear suspension bikes in the mid-1980s.  The first used the Descender name with a large center mounted shock.  Dan like the side link shock and this appears to be an earlier steel framed version.  Later, Dan went to SE and had aluminum front triangle versions made.

The shock is damped by tightening the quick release lever on the top of the shock!  A 24" rear wheel allowed for more movement of the swing arm.  Chain stay mounted cantilever brakes were something of an odd choice but was likely the only choice at the time since the roller cam brake didn't debut until 1985.
