    1983 Moots Mountaineer

The earlier Moots bikes are some of my favorites.  They have interesting and unique frame details, smart parts spec and nice finish work.  This bike features the radial (curved) seat stays for some small bump give, flattened stay bridges, nice rear brake cable stop and a Moots stem featuring a recessed binder bolt.  Moots Mounts, for the brakes, allowed the brakes to be moved up and down to accommodate different brakes and different wheel sizes.  Put some road wheels on your Moots and just move the brakes up a little higher.  Parts include the TA cranks, MAFAC brakes, Phil Wood hubs and new for 1983 Shimano Deore XT drive train.  The two tone burgundy and sand colors highlight the lug work.  Even the bars are painted to match.
